The 2012–13 NBA season was the 67th season of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The regular season began on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, when the 2011–12 NBA Champions Miami Heat started the season by hosting the Boston Celtics. The 2013 NBA All-Star Game was played on February 17, 2013, at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The regular season ended on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, and the playoffs began on Saturday, April 20, 2013 and ended on June 20, 2013 with the Miami Heat defeating the San Antonio Spurs in seven games to win the 2013 NBA Finals. The 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season, or the college football season, began on August 28, 2008,[2] progressing through the regular season and bowl season, and (aside from all-star exhibition games that followed) concluded with the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship Game in Miami Gardens, Florida on January 8, 2009, where the #2 Florida Gators, defeated the #1 Oklahoma Sooners, 24–14, of which the teams were determined by the BCS Ranking.[3] The Gators were declared national champions by the BCS and most major polls. The 2015 Major League Baseball season began on April 5 with a Sunday night game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, and ended on October 4.
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game's 86th edition was held on Tuesday, July 14 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, home of the Cincinnati Reds. The American League won the game 6–3, to give the American League home-field advantage in the World Series. The series was won by the Kansas City Royals.
This year, the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the annual Civil Rights Game on April 15 against the Seattle Mariners, the first time the game was held on Jackie Robinson Day.[1][2] The Dodgers won the game 5–2.
