The NBA Finals this year marks the first time since 1998 that the same two teams play each other back to back years. In 1997 and 1998 the Chicago Bulls beat the Utah Jazz in 6 games both years. Last year the Miami Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs in 7 games, The difference this year is that the Spurs have home court advantage, whereas the Heat had it last year.


The Stanley Cup Finals mark the first time since 1981 that New York and Los Angeles play each other in a championship game or series in any major sport. In 1981 the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in 6 games. The last time it happened in the NBA was 1973, the New York Knicks beat the Los Angeles Lakers in 5 games. This is first time it has happened in the NHL.  The New York Rangers host the Los Angeles Kings in game 1 on Wednesday 6/4 at 8 pm. The NBA finals get underway on Thursday 6/5 at 9 pm.
