The 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup season consisted of 29 races which began Feb. 14th with the 30th Daytona 500, and ended Nov. 20th at Atlanta. Feb. 21st was the last race on the old Richmond Fairgrounds track, and Sept 11th was the first on the current Richmond International Raceway. June 12th was the last race at Riverside International Raceway, and Nov. 6th was the first race at Phoenix International Raceway. The June 19th Pocono race featured the career ending crash for Bobby Allison. 1988 was last year for past champions Cale Yarborough and Benny Parsons.
